I very much enjoyed doing Reading Bingo in 2016. This year, I wanted to do it again, but with different prompts. I couldn't find any challenges that quite clicked with me, so I made three challenges of my own.

Feel free to snag one, two, or all three of them, and give it a go as well. (If you do join in, please leave a comment and let me know; I'd like to see how others go with it. A link back to this post would be nice too, though you don't have to do that.)

Misc prompts

The first book in a series A book with more than 400 pages A book recommended by a friend An audiobook A book with time travel
A book with magic A book by a local author A borrowed book A book with a dragon A book about the apocalypse
A graphic novel A book with a colour in the title A book with a serial killer A book that became a movie A book with less than 200 pages
A book that became a TV series A book that has cake A book with a number in the title A book of short stories A book with a one-word title
A book with a dog A book set in space A book about life or death A book published this year The last book in a series

I never understood how "Bingo" works – are you going to read all of them? In a specific order? How do you choose? Excuse my ignorance. :)

That... just kinda reminded me I didn't properly format the second two tables. Editing them now. :P

Basically, you read in any order you want. The aim with the tables is to either read all the books or to form a line within the table of books you've read. (eg. A book with a dog; A book set in space; A book about life or death; A book published this year; The last book in a series is one line you could do with the first table. Or you could do a line straight through the middle, or diagonally through the table.) I tend to just aim to read all the books. Though getting a few lines is a good goal, if it's not looking like a full table is possible.

I tend to choose by what I'm in the mood for. And sometimes I end up picking the book first, and then matching it to a relevant prompt, rather than picking a prompt and then a book based on it. Varies.

Oh, okay. Thank you for explaining. :) Not sure how much I can commit to at this point but that reminds me that I should update goodreads eventually.

No problem. :)
Is always a thing if you decide you want to give it a go later. I find the goodreads challenge to be a great one on its own too.

I just know I can't read 52 books a year. I'm dyslexic and a really slow reader. In addition, I usually have a bunch of scientific papers to read that aren't a joy in the least so when it's evening and I have time for leisure reading, I'm usually debating – either I have a book that has really sucked me in or I rather watch something on TV or I don't know... /rant of rants

Yay, have fun with it!

I've just realised the formatting wasn't quite right for the second two, if they're to be used as reading bingo squares, rather than straight challenges, so I've edited/am editing them now.

Any thoughts on genres to add?
Edit: I'm leaning toward gothic or classic for the last square? Or magical realism?

Happy new year!

All excellent ideas! Maybe a poetry book, too? And biography/autobiography/memoir. Just suggestions. :-)

This looks fun! I have too little time to read though and I feel this would add to the pressure and hinder my enjoyment of reading. I wish I could do it though.

Definitely not worth it if it'd make reading less fun for you. Maybe some other time. :)

Looks like fun! Not sure yet if I'll just read or do some challenges like these (I had a bad reading year last year so I don't know if I should commit to things like this) but if I do feel like it, I might snatch some. Good luck with it!
