Unspoken words that once given voice would change everything.
Both knew how important the next few moments would be and both knew that even the slightest turn in the wrong direction could damage their relationship beyond repair.
What there was between them was only new and to test the strength of that would be like pulling on either side of a strand of hair to see how long it would take to break.
Neither of them wanted it to break.
They remained silent.
Their eyes locked.
Max opened her mouth.
“I did what I had to do.”
