I despise those words. "TO BE CONTINUED..." In the TV sense, they mean sitting around for a week (or months depending on where in the series they're up to) waiting and endlessly obsessing over the possibilities of what comes next. Likewise in fic, there's the waiting and impatient moments BUT there's also the little bit where it's not definite that a next bit will come up. If the writer gets writer's block or decides they don't want to finish, it's forever TBC.
