The selling of fanfiction
Feb. 19th, 2011 07:16 pmHaving bad things happen to you in real life does not give you the right to break the law. Please tell me if you disagree.
A bit more context, someone is selling fic for money because of some rough situations they currently have going on in real life. I do not agree with this. I am sorry that they are having trouble, but just because they are experiencing said problem, doesn't mean they have the right to break the law and profit from the work of someone else.
Thoughts?
Edit: I was asked to add in and clarify that the fic this person has been selling is fic that they are writing. They have also, since I last msged them, slapped on a "fandom charity" bit to the post. Because apparently they are a charity. *facepalm*

* Note that certain aspects like "proof" and the words "fandom charity" were only added in after I sent a message explaining politely that what she is doing is illegal.
