Movies: The ones that stand out in my mind are Thank You for Smoking (which is ridiculously brilliant), Stranger than Fiction, and Stardust. Just off the top of my head. There are others I really like but it depends on what you like watching.

Really, for me, 800 episodes won't be too many. I mean, I watched 73 eps of Friends (seasons 1-3) over 3 or 4 days last month and I'm always watching new stuff on TV along with DVDs (which I'm almost always buying *g*), so when you think about it...yeah. 7 more seasons of Friends, which I'm expecting in the mail next week hopefully!, should lose me 200+ eps from the list and that'll only be 2-3 weeks worth of viewing. *is obsessed*

Books...I'm considering knocking back to 20 or 25. 50 is just insane nowadays. I used to keep a record of everything I read and I've gotten up to 100+ in a year (several years back before I got into fandom and fic), but it's not likely that that's gonna happen this year what with uni if I get in and fic writing and dvd watching and so on. *nods*

If you really achieve all this, you're my hero. ;)

...but it depends on what you like watching

I love any movies with actors/actresses from my tv fandoms. Sci-fi is good, as are thrillers and the occasional comedy and romance is okay as well.

I stay far away, however, from movies that are intentionally stupid so that people think they're "funny" (if that makes sense). And I fell asleep through PoTC and Blade and Underworld: Evolution. Too cliched. *is so utterly picky with movies that it's not funny*

Movies: A Dog's Breakfast and Enchanted (with Amy Adams & Patrick Dempsey) come to mind right away, and I second the person that mentioned Stardust.

Books: Stardust by Neil Gaimon (because as fun as the movie is, the book is better), all of The Dresden Files books (I think there are nine of them right now) by Jim Butcher, and I've started The Book of Joby by Mark J. Ferrari and so far I'm hooked by the concept and the beautiful writing. I don't know how it ends or even what the middle is like, but it seems good enough thus far to merit a recommendation!

TV: Somehow I think you'll manage 800 episodes of TV without any help... ;)

Wow, 100+, that's amazing. I mean I only started counting in 2007, and I didn't read half as much then as the years before and it's all my boyfriend's fault. *lol*
You don't have to knock back to 20, you can leave it as it is. Maybe that will give you an incentive to actually read instead of watching DVDs. ;)

Good list! Oh, and you should try and find Burn Notice for your TV list too. I don't know if/when it'll come to Australia, but it's an awesome show and definitely worth checking out.

Also, I forgot to mention on the movie front: Hot Fuzz. British humor, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, and absolutely brilliant.

Some book recs:

-The Vorkosigan Saga, by Louis McMaster Bujold. I swear, these books are like catnip. One thing: I suggest skipping the prequels, Shards of Honor and Barrayar, until after you've gotten into the series.

-A Planet Called Treason, by Orson Scott Card.

-Anything by David Sedaris. That man is a genius.

Now Stardust - admittedly the movie trailers didn't do much for it, but the second I heard that Robert DeNiro was going to play a GAY SPACE PIRATE, it had to be watched. Michelle Pfeiffer as an evil witch? HELLO XD It's CUTE, and fun. It's not thought provoking or anything but I love it.

I can probably come up with a few more recs if you're looking for them. I also THRIVE on watching exceedingly bad movies just because they're fun XD

If you've never watched the Prestige, you should. It's brilliant as well. Not funny but it's just intense (and David Bowie, not to mention the ever-so-hot Christian Bale and to a lesser extent Hugh Jackman).

What are some of your fave movies? If you can name them, it'd give me an idea of what to suggest :) ... if you still want suggestions XD

Oh, yeah. There have been a few ads on TV for Burn Notice in the past couple of weeks. *adds it to list* Apparently it's coming to channel (9? maybe 10?) on Tuesdays. (Funny how they haven't said WHICH Tuesday yet.) Looks interesting, anyhow. =)

Hot Fuzz...yes. I've seen SOOOOO much on LJ about that to the point that it's been driving me insane. Might have to watch and see why it's so popular. =P

Hmm some of the other movies I really liked includes Zoolander (one of my favourite comedies to date), Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (ethnic humour at its finest), The Usual Suspects (cos' Kevin Spacey is INCREDIBLE), 10 Things I Hate About You, Mean Girls, American Psycho (but only cos' it's trippy and crazy and Christian Bale is awesome in it), Bend it like Beckham, Circle of Friends, The Fifth Element (oh so CHEESY but oh so fun XD)... and a bunch of others XD
