10_prompts. 4/08/08.
Years ago, Mick would not have even considered having a relationship with a human as a possibility.
He had thought about what it would be like and he had wished for it, but sooner or later, he knew that the fact that he never aged would catch on and he just couldn’t risk it. He couldn’t risk falling in love only to see the relationship crash and burn when he had to run from it to avoid any awkward questions.
Why aren’t you any older than the day we met?
Why haven’t you aged?
You’re a vampire? For real?
You drink blood?
Oh, god! Get the hell away from me!
He could just imagine it.
Now though, with Beth, it didn’t sound so crazy. She knew who he was and what he was. She knew some of his darkest secrets and darkest moments.
She hadn’t run away.
He liked her, too.
A lot.
Maybe, just maybe, his time had come for something more than an empty existence.
He hoped so.
