Was wondering about that. If it was another CSI show I'd guess they'd pass it over quickly, but CSI NY seems more developed with characters and development there, so maybe they'll focus on it more. What I'm wondering more is, as you said, if there will be left open the option for her to return in future.. (I can dream, right? Michael Shanks left SG-1 for a season and then returned, so it has been done before..) I'm guessing since they already aired the last ep she'll be in and I haven't read spoiler posts about her character being killed off that it will be a possibility, but.. I don't know.
I think she got an offer for more time on CSI NY but just turned it down. Ready to leave, I suppose. Which.. I hope means we'll see her in something else at very least.
