Firefly General Series

001. Focus Mal had to focus on the job at hand: he wasn't ready to take part in the 'trade' until it was over...or so he kept telling himself.
002. Civilization Inara was growing weary of Mal's latest job choices that led them further away from civilisation to the rim where no respectable clients were, and had her suspicions as to why those jobs were the ones taken.
003. Sink He had been sinking since he set eyes on Inara for the first time and knew that eventually the long buried desires would come to the surface.
004. Bullet A lot of bullets had been fired under Zoe's watch, some of them from her gun, some of them not, but she had rarely ever been required to extract any, and so found the process of surgically removing the bullet from Simon's leg a mite more uncomfortable than she cared to say.
005. Count Every time a job went down, the first thing Jayne did was count his earnings.
006.MentalJayne wasn't stupid - he knew when he saw River that she weren't all there - but he also knew that she'd didn't all have to be.
007. Coast Wash checked that the coast was clear on the com screen before preparing Serenity for landing.
008. Fence As a Companion, it was Inara's duty to keep her emotions in check, and if that meant putting up a fence between herself and Mal she would do it.
009. Circle Simon didn't fancy the notion of sleeping with one eye open and circling each other like a pair of wild dogs, so took a leap of faith with Jayne...and bought a lock for his door.
010. Thin River's lips curled up into a thin smile as Simon reached for her in a comforting gesture, like so many times before.
011. Room After listening to Early's philosophical views regarding the reality of a room, Simon couldn't help wondering if he was right and if rooms did actually exist and have purpose when no one was in them.
012. Blaze As Serenity moved over the hills and Haven came into view, the entire crew stared in horror at the blaze that confronted them, the burning buildings and the remnants of what once was.
013. ThoughtShe had wondered many times what it would be like if things were different – if she had chosen a profession that didn’t require her to hide away her emotions; and if Mal wasn’t so insecure about the bonds of love that tied two people together – but the thought that anything might actually come of their relationship had never even crossed her mind.
014. Jealous Jayne couldn't help feeling a tinge of jealously at every glance the cheerful mechanic shot the prissy doctor - he sure as hell wasn't going to tell her how he felt though, so he took it, the piercing of green envy a constant reminder of what he would never be and more importantly, what he would never have.
015. Sand She liked running her fingers through the sand, the small grains flitting over her skin like Serenity moved through space.
016. Doll They made her feel like a doll: they dressed her, they played with her and they tried to change her into what they wanted her to be, disregarding that she was actually a person, whom had once been whole.
017.Curl River curled up in the corner, hands sinking into her hair and wept as the hands of blue men advanced on her...
018. Farewell Goodbyes were difficult at the best of times - they were even more difficult though, when the one person who you'd ever loved was the one leaving.
019.Story Simon had heard many campfire stories about Reavers and had wished to never meet one in the flesh, but his wish had been crushed underfoot and he'd never be the same again.
020. Soft Despite his tough exterior, Jayne had a soft spot for fluffy puppies and hot pancakes with maple syrup.
021.Pool Jayne watched numbly as streams of blood ran down his chest and pooled in a neat circle on his shirt and silently cussed himself for letting the moonbrain get to him again.
022. Serpent Jayne was like a serpent: slippery, unpredictable and ready to attack at any moment.
023.Prey River Tam was by far the smallest and most deadly prey that the Alliance had ever sent a Bounty Hunter after.
024.Friend Before Kaylee, River had never had a real friend who was as kind-hearted or as true.
025. Still Inara had learned that to find the right path, you had to remain still and let everything fall in place around you.
026. Exhausted Falling back to the bed in exhaustion, Simon reached out to push a strand of misplaced hair out of Kaylee's eyes, wondering what good he did to have her with him.
027. Bold Kaylee had never seen Simon so bold as the night they'd first made love.
028. Hook Since the moment Mal first laid eyes on Serenity, he was hooked.
029. Attraction There was something between them that they couldn't deny; a spark of attraction that lit up like a firefly in a darkened cave, leading the way to the light.
030. Will In Wash's will, he had left his wife his plastic dinosaurs and on learning so, Zoe swore never to let them out of her possession again.
031. Bed She had seen to so many of her clients on the bed in her shuttle, so every time she and Mal were together, she made a point of using his bunk instead, a silent gesture to tell him that he wasn't just a client to her and that he was so much more.
32. Bell The tinkering of bells alerted Jayne to River's presence and he glanced up quickly as she rounded the corner, tiny beads of silver falling from her ears.
033. Joy Joy was something Kaylee relied on heavily when everything was going to hell - and things often got awful lonely out in the black.
034. Decade A decade after the war, Mal and Zoe had found what they'd always wanted: freedom and Serenity.
035.TestShe had been subjected to more tests by the Alliance than she could count and by the time she was rescued, was left eternally broken by them.
036.Gentle Simon ran a hand gently through his sister's tangled hair, wondering to himself if Inara would take the time to brush out the knots.
037. Hunger They had been hunted by Reavers, chased by the Alliance, half of them had been shot or injured and on top of all of that, they were out of food, likely to die of hunger rather than from the vicious reality of their everyday lives.
038. Mute Mal hit the mute button on the com screen and turned to Zoe for her opinion, leaving Patience on the line to wait.
039. Quicken Mal quickened his pace without a thought as he neared the Companion Training House, worry written all over his face for Inara's safety.
040. Absence The absence of Book and Inara on Serenity was phenomenal - it affected all of the crew more than anything else ever had, and not since the time of war had Zoe seen Mal so unhappy.
041.Maze Her mind was a maze of thoughts and memories that weren't her own, twisting and winding their way around the crevasses and ever so slender fibres of her being.
042. CloseRiver needed him nearby because she knew that if he wasn't close by her side she'd fade away into nothing and melt until all that was left of her was memory and an empty shell, emptier than she was now.
043. Reign The reign of the Alliance had taken ahold firmly after the time of war...but the Independents knew that it was only time before they got back up again and regained their freedom.
044. Crush Every time that he saw her with a client, his heart was crushed just that little bit more, so much so that he was sure it would turn to dust with time.
045. Run Jayne hit the ground running as the Reavers got closer and closer and closer...
046. Art Companioning was an art of sorts which required a heavy education and lots of education to master, but Mal didn't understand the morality of it one bit.
047. Pressure When Simon had been working as a trauma surgeon on Osiris he had felt like he belonged nowhere else and had been completely at ease, but now on Serenity he had the pressure of the universe pressing down on him and he was certain that there were more than a few people who would do anything to see him fail - what pressured him most of all was the idea of failing River...and talking to a certain ship's mechanic.
048.Echo The voices surrounded her in waves of crackling static; they washed over her and echoed repetitively through her mind, while all she could do was listen and wish they would dry up and leave her in peace.
049. Heal His lifelong job was to heal people, so when he was confronted by a situation where hurting them was required, he had an immediate dislike of the notion.
050. Clear Zoe couldn't help feeling a surge of satisfaction as the doctor shuddered violently under the prods she'd applied to his chest and fell to the ground at the exact moment she stated flatly, "Clear".
