Also, looked at Avengers quotes on IMdb. Tony Stark = Malcolm Reynolds, yes? Seriously. Whedon wrote the script.. and every line of Stark's, I think would be a very Mal thing to say too.
YES! Tony completely parallels Mal!!! I totally see it. Especially right here:

Am I weird that I see some of Shepherd Book in Steve? That righteous and pure man with a complicated past, who teaches Tony a thing or two about himself that he didn't realize? Or am I over analyzing the parallels?! SOMEONE STOP ME.
