Summoning creatures

I have a presentation due. I've written neeeeearly all of it, just have the last 400 words left (part of that will consist of 500 words I've previously written and will break down into 100 words max, if all goes well). The presentation requires me to talk about my short story and the research I put into it. For this particular story, that means talking about:
+ Cynogriffins
+ Psychology in relation to my characters
+ Wicca: rituals, circle casting, summoning creatures
I'm more or less good with all that... except for summoning creatures. Is there anywhere you'd recommend for getting info on the following, or do you have answers for the questions already?
For the sisters to summon the creature, would they have to cast two circles? One for them, and one in which they would conjure the cynogriffin? To suit the logistics of Megan stepping back and breaking the circle, would this mean that to break one circle is to break both? Or will this part of my story need to be changed?

Date: 2012-05-24 01:55 pm (UTC)I'd either cast one giant circle for me/the spellcaster within which the summoning will take place (circle as 'cauldron' metaphor, you're making this space sacred and a container for the magickal working)
OE
I'd cast one circle within which the summoned creature will appear, and work from outside it.
I don't see two separate circles working since they're both 'containers' of a sort; that is, unless they're concentric, with the smaller one for the creature inside the larger magickal working area. If that makes sense.
And perhaps breaking the outer circle could collapse the inner one too. (Maybe she's cast the smaller circle after the larger one, but only summoned the elements once, for the large one. Or some other plot device that means the smaller circle is weaker/inherently linked to the larger outer circle)
Just a few thoughts :D

Yess. That would definitely be a possibility. I was having a little trouble figuring out how I'd BS my way into making it sound logical - that'd work perfectly. :)
