This time, all I want is you
There is no one else, who can take your place
- "Take Me Away" by Lifehouse
"Tru. I love you," Luc says.
The words are everything she has been hoping to hear from him, but she can't help but cringe. Even though he is still in the dark about her secret, he's baring his heart to her. And she can't explain to him why she's always running off. It doesn't seem fair.
Wrapping her fingers around the hand he offers her, she squeezes it gently. It's warm and to her, symbolises so much more than she can hope to offer him. It breaks her heart knowing that until she's revealed her secret to him - that she relives days and saves people - that they will never have a truthful and real relationship.
Everything they are and will be for the rest of their lives, will be built on lies. She'll keep running off to save lives and he'll continue to wonder where she disappears to. Secrets in relationships have never resulted in anything positive in her experience. But she feels for him. The depth of her feelings for him is too strong for her to ignore.
Maybe it can work. If she works at it, maybe she can convince Luc he doesn't need to know about her mysterious disappearances. Unlikely. That's a pipe dream, ready to burst and spurt up dirty drain gunk in her face.
She can't help it though. A soft smile on her lips, she pulls Luc closer and leans in to kiss him. When she moves back, he's smiling too and there's a look in his eyes that unsettles her and excites her. He's fallen hard.
And the thing is, she has too. "I love you, too."

Date: 2018-12-09 06:36 pm (UTC)I don't know if you ever saw Alias but Tru Calling reminds me of Alias in that the lead female, who is asked to do impossible things every day, keeps from skating off the deep end in large part due to the supportive men around her. In Tru's case, Davis, Harrison, and Luc all created an oasis for her, giving her normalcy and support, allowing her to go forth and be the heroine she was destined to be.
So anyway, got all into the fandom there for a moment. It's good to find another Tru Calling fan. :) Thank you again for sharing such a great fic!

Date: 2018-12-20 05:52 pm (UTC)I definitely agree. Tru and Luc had such a pure relationship, so real in its positives as well as its flaws.
As he's dying in the finale and says, "I'm sorry I didn't believe you," OMG. It breaks my heart.
:( Hurts to think about that scene.
Yup, I saw Alias too. Sooo good. I think I have some fic for that around too. Syd/Vaughn were amazing. ♥
Gotta say... your comment has me feeling nostalgic. It's so long since I've done much with fandom. I miss it.

Date: 2018-12-24 01:12 am (UTC)I also was really in love with Nick Kelly's one episode with Tru in 1x02 Putting Out Fires. Every time I watch that episode (which I am right now), I tear up when he dies. I'm so impressed they got so invested in just one episode. So again, Tru had lots of good men in her life.
Like Sydney! :) I loooooooooove Alias. You have fic for what? Syd/Vaughn?

I'm so glad! :) I love reconnecting with fellow fans about wonderful shows. It's good to talk to you about them too!
The pilots of both Tru Calling and Alias are SO powerful. And similar to me, in a way. Both pilots explain what the show's going to be about and get you READY to watch the season! When Sydney answers phone that Jack hands her at Danny's gave and says, "Hello?" and it fades to black, my whole body leans into the TV like OH MY GOD. I'm READY. I'm IN. Tru's pilot did the same thing. Two EPIC pilots. I hope you rewatch them sometime and let me know your favorite moments/scenes.
I wish you a happy holiday!

Yup, Syd/Vaughn. Speaking of Alias, I saw Peppermint a few nights ago - it was amazing. So much Alias nostalgia!
Definitely agree about the pilot eps. They were so great at putting across the show's intent and direction and feelings already. ♥!
Thanks and same to you! :)

Date: 2018-12-26 08:30 pm (UTC)Was Peppermint good? I can't wait to see it myself. I'm so proud of Jen! I want her to get good material to play and there's such a dearth of good writing out there right now, yikes. But that's awesome that there is good Alias nostalgia in the film. What's it about? Besides a bad ass woman? Which is always a good thing.

Date: 2018-12-26 08:36 pm (UTC)It was amazing. Very Alias nostalgia. Dark, kinda violent, angsty. Defied some of the usual storylines you see in big movies and had characters react differently and such. I'm definitely intending to get the DVD when it's out.
Basically what happens is her daughter and husband are killed, there are corrupt cops and such and the killers get away with it, and she goes out for revenge. A bit vigilante.
