It's a long time since she's opened up to someone. Truly opened up. It's hard to find anyone who cares enough to listen and impossible to find someone who won't judge her every move.

Castle isn't any different, of course, but for some reason he is more persuasive. He knows just the right words to get under her skin and she's in a more open mood - the slightest bit drunk - when it happens.

He says a few words, and then she says a few more. A few more than she intended. Words slip from her easily. Perhaps mistakenly, but right now she doesn't care.

When it comes down to it, the truth is she is "lonely." The word is a whispered confession, unintended.

Castle merely nods. "I get that, too."

... I'm aiming to finish a whole lot of short pieces this year, and post as many as I can (I have a folder filled with 319 more things to post), and then was hoping to work on some longer pieces. So. Might be some longer in future. We shall see.
