It’s like I’m coming home again, in a way, only this time it is different. Everything is altered, changed by one single event: Jeremy’s death. I am different.

No one is the same. They all feel his loss, just as I do now that I have turned my humanity back on. They also have felt the loss of me, and things between us all won’t be as they were for quite some time, if at all. Without my humanity on, I didn’t care. That version of me wasn’t nice to them and it didn’t want to be, didn’t need to be.

But, now I do care. My humanity is turned back on, and it hurts.

It hurts like hell.

If anyone had to die, it should have been me. But it wasn’t. Jer is gone. This world that I am returning to is ugly, only a shadow of the world I left behind.

And there’s no going back. No reversing this. This is how my life - and the lives of those around me - will be from now on. Without Jeremy.
