“We should branch out.”
“What?”
“I said,” Cordy told him, “we should branch out. You know. With the business?”
Angel continued to look at her blankly.
“What? You don’t think it’s a good idea?”
“How would that even work? Who would run these other, uh, branches?”
Cordy grinned. “I have a list of potential candidates here. I was thinking that one or two of the Scooby gang back in Sunnydale might want to set up an office over their way. And we have some other contacts as well that-”
“Whoa. Slow down.” Angel frowned. “I’m not sure we’re really at a place where this is possible. We have, uh, demons to fight.”
“We always have demons to fight.”
“These ones are really strong.”
“Wow.” Cordy stared at him, her eyes wide. “You really expect me to go for that?”
Angel shrugged.
“This could be really good for us, Angel. If we expand, think about all the people we’d be saving! Think about all the lives that won’t be lost. We can make the world safer.”
“I’ll think about it,” Angel agreed. “But no promises,” he added quickly, though Cordy had already let out a high-pitched squeal of excitement.
“I’ll start asking around. See who might be interested.”
“No, I-”
Cordy was already running to the other room, picking up the phone, dialling.
“I just meant that I’ll consider it,” Angel said weakly to the empty room. He stared at the doorway as Cordy began to speak to whoever her first target happened to be. To himself, he muttered, “I guess we’re branching out.”
