I used to use http://writeordie.com/ before they changed it, I think it's pretty much the same as before, it's just I've had huge problems writing recently and haven't sat down to do anything. It did pressure me to just type instead of edit my work as I went.
I had a bookmark folder with writing resources that I was just going to share, but apparently...it's missing? Don't know how, but if I find it I will definitely share at least my favourite ones.
Saturday writing prompts- I really like this site because a lot of the prompts can be used in the fantasy genre.
Mythic Scribes this is fantasy specific, and I don't go there super often, but it's a message board for writers, so it's good for writing discussion and getting feedback and such.
I go to the NaNo boards a lot. They're not super active outside of of October/November, but they still get SOME posts, at least, and it'll get better once they reboot the site and we get closer to November.
You're welcome! Yeah, me neither. What I like about the Saturday one is that a lot of the prompts that she gives are ones that can apply to the types of fantasy settings that I enjoy writing fairly easily. A lot of the plot/prompt generator type sites out there typically give prompts that don't fit my kind of setting or just sound ridiculous and make it hard for me to take them seriously.
I actually, maybe a month or two ago, was considering starting up a blog for a few people to contribute to where those people would post different fantasy prompts (though "fantasy" is rather broad, so I mean more like the kinds of prompts that I like, like "The King’s Dance is a dual, not a duet, and the courts can only watch as in mandated silence as the new crown prince is chosen," which is from the Saturday prompts site). It would be prompts, character names, titles, whatever. Basically a huge version of the Saturday prompts site/the adoption society on the NaNo boards, but specific to fantasy. I don't know when/if I'll do anything with that idea, though.
Ok, makes sense. I tend to stick with prompts tables on LJ. I've not had much luck with prompt-based sites. (Tumblr isn't bad sometimes, but I'm not much of a tumblr user.)
Sounds like it'd be a lot of upkeep, though quite useful to a lot of writers. :)
I like SFWA's fantasy worldbuilding questions (they're super detailed and it's awesome :D), I have bunch of character questionnaires that I use (this one, this one, this one, and I think at least one more that's lost in my writing bookmarks folder somewhere).
I also have a random word generator that I use for writing prompts, I like to set to pick 3 or 4 random words and then try to come up with a story idea that incorporates ALL of them :D
I like Seventh Sanctum's generators as well, particularly the quick character generator and the writing prompt generator, but their other generators are fun/useful to play with too (I don't think I've actually used all of them before, there's just too many).
Also Behind The Name's random name generator for those times when I just can't think of a freakin name. (It can give you surnames as well).
And also FocusWriter because trying to type stuff up in OpenOffice was a nightmare. You can customise it to look how you want, you can set a daily goal and it'll keep track of how much you wrote on what day etc. Though now that I've read the comments on this post I kind of want to try Write or Die instead XD
*long comment is long because I spend too much time looking for writing resources and not enough time actually writing*

Hm ok. I hope you can find it.
