The silence screamed at him. It called to him, and when he listened, it taunted him. It told him stories. He was to blame. He did it. He did everything.
For silence, it was incredibly loud. Overbearing. Though he tried to shut it out, to keep it from eating him away from the inside, it was too insistent. It was too loud.
It wouldn’t let him forget. It wouldn’t let him move on, or have any sense of peace. Nor would it, ever again. The silence killed.
His crew lay dead, on his ship, and it was his gorram fault.
