Softly spoken, almost whispered into his ear, they held more meaning in them than anything else he’d heard before.

I need you.

Never before had he felt so important to another person and at the same time so utterly insignificant and useless.

Was he even good enough for her to need him?

Was he worthy?

He didn’t know, but he was certain that he wasn’t.

I need you.

As many times as he repeated the words over in his head, they remained as powerful as the first time.

He’d faced evil that most could only imagine and he’d lived through it all more or less intact, but this?

I need you.

Nothing could compare.
