Summary: His expression is cold and she’s scared by it.
Notes: Written for 10_fics.

“Don’t do this, John,” she tells him.

She’s hurt when he glares at her and resists her, although she expected no less.

“I have to.”

“You don’t,” she says.

His expression is cold and she’s scared by it.

“I do.”

She can’t think of what else to say and so stares at him, hoping he’d see some of the pain and the disappointment and the smallest bit of hope that she has left in her eyes.

He doesn’t – or if he does, he pretends it isn’t there.

He continues on after the man who quite possibly killed his ex-wife, and she watches him go whilst her heart is breaking in her chest.

When she can barely see his figure off in the distance, she feels the trickle of a tear run down her left cheek.

“You’ll get yourself killed,” she whispers into the empty air.

I've already had a request to continue this one but have absolutely no idea where to take it (yet). I've added it to my 'sequels' request list which I've only recently started due to sheer number of such requests. So yes. I'll see how things go with more of this...
