“Well, you know what they say,” Monica said, voice oozing with barely concealed disgust. “A picture’s worth a thousand words.”

She continued to stare at the monstrosity in question, disapproval written all over her face along with the glint in her eyes that suggested she was plotting something - something that left pure intentions far, far behind.

Chandler cocked an eyebrow and shrugged. “Oh, I don’t know about that. Words…just aren’t coming to me.”

“Awful. Terrible. Eyesore. Do any of those work for you?” Monica shot back.

“Sure they do, honey,” he replied quickly. “They’re all very…er…fitting words.”

They fell silent and returned their attentions to the so called ‘piece of art’.

A strange look formed on Monica’s face.

Chandler shivered.

“You LIKE it!” Monica finally exclaimed, wide eyed and pointing. “You. Actually. Like it!”

Paling considerably and shaking his head so hard he was certain it would fall off, Chandler inched backwards. “Nooo! No, no, no, no. No!”

Monica glared at him.

“NO!”

“Yes. You like it! Don’t tell me you don’t. You’ve barely made any sarcastic remarks!”

Wincing, Chandler took another step back. “I…but, no!”

“Okay, then what?” Monica asked, fixing him with a you’re-not-getting-out-of-this-one look.

Chandler’s eyes darted around the room, searching for a way out. The only possible escape route was blocked by Monica. He sighed. He was so not going to ‘get any’ tonight!

“Mon,” he started weakly. “You know how I said this beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece was a present from Phoebe? Yeah…well, it was actually…not.”

Monica looked perplexed. “What?”

“I…uh...I may have made it,” Chandler explained, ducking his head and throwing his hands in the air in preparation for whatever object he was sure she was going to pelt him with.

“You WHAT?!”

Horror stricken, he took in a deep breath and waited for the blow.

It didn’t come.

Rather, Monica fell absolutely silent. She looked him over with calculative eyes and he slowly let his hands fall from in front of his face to his sides. He shrugged sheepishly.

He almost had a heart attack when she finally moved towards him, fast, and slung her arms around his neck.

“You are so cute, do you know that?” Monica said.

He sighed in relief. Maybe he wasn’t going to die today after all! “Yes, yes. I am,” he agreed. He paused, looked into her eyes, saw the love in them for him. He hoped she could see the same in his eyes.

“So, are we keeping it?” he risked, nodding towards the artwork.

Monica’s eyes widened in disbelief and she slowly shook her head to emphasise her point. “Nooo,” she told him. “As adorable as it is that you made it, I’d rather have to put up with Phoebe’s art. Sorry, hon.”

Chandler faked a pout. “You’re gonna have a lot of making up to do tonight, Mon.”

She smirked. “You wish.”
