Summary: “Do you want to come in?” Dawn asks at the end of their latest date.
Notes: Written for 7_crossovers and posted today at the request of luxuria_oceanus (I hope you get a decent night of sleep soon! *huggles* And that you enjoy this fic, of course.). December 30.

“Do you want to come in?” Dawn asks at the end of their latest date. She watches Edward with a hopeful smile in place as he pulls in at the front of the Summer’s home and cuts the engine. The muscles in his jaw tense slightly at her words and his knuckles turn white where they still clutch the steering wheel.

She wants to brush it off as his nerves getting the better of him but she knows it’s more than that. He’s a vampire. Her sister is the Slayer. The two don’t exactly go hand in hand (at least not in a dustless way) and Edward made it very clear to her at the beginning of their relationship that he doesn’t trust easily.

It’ll take some time for him to adjust to Buffy being a vampire slayer just as it will for her to accept that he’s the vampire that her little sister is dating. Edward has the to-be-expected concern of being slain by her sister and so his silence and negative attitude towards the idea is only natural.

“You don’t have to,” Dawn adds awkwardly. “It’s just…wouldn’t it be nice for you guys to meet finally? Buffy knows you’re a vampire. She’s cool with it.” She pauses and shrugs sheepishly. “Well, okay. Maybe she’s not all that cool, but she promised she won’t stake you.”

For a moment she thinks Edward is going to say ‘yes’ as he turns to consider her. And then her heart flops.

“Maybe some other time,” he says quietly. His eyes darken very slightly. The moonlight above illuminates the chestnut left in them and plays softly over his hair.

Dawn nods and tries not to let her disappointment show. “Sure, some other time.”

They sit awkwardly in their seats. Their eyes refuse to meet for more than a darting second before returning to survey the rest of the car’s interior and what little can be seen through the tinted windows in the dark of night.

Dawn reaches up and unfastens her seatbelt. “I should head in.” Her hand is reaching for the door handle to open it when he grabs her wrist suddenly, surprising her with his lightning rod, inhuman reflexes.

“Wait,” he says. He loosens his grip and takes her hand in his. “Don’t go yet.”

They allow their gazes to meet then and a smile plays at Dawn’s lips. She relaxes back into her seat and places her hand in her lap rather than on the door handle.

Edward smiles back at her.

“Okay. I’ll stay awhile.”

Twenty minutes later she finally leaves the car and Edward to walk up the drive. Before she enters the house she readjusts her shirt over the small mark he left on her neck to mark her as his. Better covered than seen by Buffy, she figures.

She climbs the stairs and makes her way towards her room wondering how long it’ll be until Buffy and her friends will meet Edward and hoping that it will be one day soon. Really soon.

I'm not sure what made me even consider them tbh. Perhaps it was my recent Buffy rewatch around the same time Twilight came out. *ponders* Whatever it was I'm glad I wrote this (and the other fics for them that I've done so far!)

*nods* There's more. I have two more to post (though one of those is really short) and I just claimed a prompt table at 7crossovers. Also, luxuria_oceanus gave me a plot bunny not too long ago for a fic involving Edward/Dawn and Buffy&Spike (or Buffy/Spike depending on which way I decide to go.) *grin* Well I'm more het (obviously) but I don't mind the occasional femmeslash. I quite like the idea of Scully/Reyes.. Brennan/Angela (Bones) is cute too. Pathetic but I'd probably have to think more on it in regards to any other ones. I've read very few femmeslash fics to this point, have always figured I'd check some out 'one day' - 'one day' which has never really arrived yet as these things tend to do. Or not do. I'll write just about anything though.

Scully/Reyes has always intrigued me...though I must say as much as I LOVE XFiles, I got into it long after it was off the air so I havent seen very many episodes :(

*shrugs* Yeah I just tend to write it because its in my comfort zone...although I will sometimes write het...I just never go past PG-13 for it usually

Agreed. I love their scenes together in the very first episode Reyes was in and in 'Improbable' (my fav season 9 episodes). They have some great moments. If you get the chance you should definitely watch more XF.

That makes sense. My comfort zone is pretty much 'anything but smut and a select few fandoms/characters'. Best to go with what you know, IMO. Or what comes naturally.

It's short, but sweet, and gosh, I can't believe I can imagine them in my head with so much ease, it's crazy.

And Edward marking Dawn? *squee* Does this mean he's a vampire a la Joss and not a la Stephenie? As in, he doesn't sparkle? *.* As much as I love Stephenie, I cringe at the thought of sparkling vampires, so I have no problem with Edward a la Joss! I LIKEY *TACKLES!*

There are definitely many possibilities with these two. Edward in the Buffy!verse in general has a lot of paths to follow..

I was really quite amazed how natural they felt as well. When I tried Brennan/Mulder fic it felt so clunky and forced. This came as any same fandom pairing I've tried. T'was fun.

I wasn't thinking that, no.. He'd still sparkle. I just... suppose he'd also do the Joss!vamp with the fangs and the teeth and the blood and...yesh.. Make sense? Kinda jumbled again probably since it's almost 6am and I havent' slept yet. :)

Heh, true..

Nope. I'm going to shower, wash my hair (dog shampoo and then human shampoo probs) and then walk down to the chemist to get the special shampoo and maybe drop by the hairdrssers to get my hair trimmed off a little while I'm down that way. Undecided on the hair cut at this point. But I won't be able to sleep until I'm not itchy anymores.

O.o Don't do the human shampoo right after the dog shampoo! As much as it may smell, work with the dog shampoo first and start taking out the lice before you do the human shampoo. Not 100% sure, but human shampoo might neutralize dog shampoo's effects.

Yeah true.

In that case I think I'll do human shampoo now before I go to the chemist so as not to have it smell too bad and when I get back I'll do the dog shampoo / hair dye / special shampoo / one of those.
