30_fluffs. Day 19 of my August Fic-A-Day Challenge.
The sky is broken into a multitude of colour. Red. Orange. Yellow. Very pale purple. Blue.
She stares at it, revels in it, lifts her hands above her head and slowly, gracefully, begins to dance. Her body gyrates with ease, slipping into the dance as if it's the most natural thing in the 'verse. To her, it is.
The setting sun urges her on, intensifying in colour and in beauty. The sky becomes a watercolour painting as it watches her spin, as if her movements are diluting it's colour. The more she spins, the paler it gets.
She is beginning to grow tired and the sunset has nearly faded completely when he comes. He doesn't speak a word but fixes curious eyes on her. He stands still, doing nothing but watching her for minute and then finally when she is certain she will collapse, he sits down.
She slows in speed until she comes to a stop, just as the last splash of sunset disappears to make way for the dark cover of night. She glides over to him, places a hand on his shoulder.
He smiles and nods at the patch of dirt beside him.
Smiling back, she accepts his invitation and sits, not cross-legged as he's expecting but with her back to his side. He frowns in confusion until she leans back and rests her head in his lap.
He stares down at her and she stares up at him and the sky and the emerging stars.
