"You know what's worse than being nicknamed 'Spooky', Scully?" he says. "Being called a creep." He tries not to let the pain show too much on his face but judging by the look Scully's giving him, he's not succeeding.
Scully places a comforting hand on his and he feels a little better. Only a little though. "Mulder, I'm sure you just read into it wrong. Whoever said it..."
"They said I'm a creep, Scully, to my face. It doesn't get any clearer than that."
"No, I guess not."
They stare at each other.
"Well," Scully says. "If it means anything, I don't think you're a creep." She pauses and the corner of her mouth twitches up. "Creepy maybe, but not a creep."
"Hey!" he protests.
"Kidding. You're not a creep, nor are you particularly creepy."
"Thank you. I think. Though that doesn't make me feel any better."
"The way I see it is whoever told you you're a creep doesn't know you at all. You shouldn't let it bother you."
"Hmmm. Well, I don't know about that."
"Oh?"
"It was Skinner."
"Skinner!? Why!?"
"He may have caught me staring at his ass," he admits. "He had a post-it note stuck there - "
Scully bursts into laughter. "A post-it note with 'kiss me' written on it?"
"Yeah! How did you know?"
Her face tinges red. "He may have caught me staring at his ass, too."
"Scully! I'm appalled!"
"Well, hey! At least I'm not a guy staring at his ass."
He frowns. "Well. Fine."
She smirks as she adds, "but he didn't call me a creep."
He groans and slaps his hand to his face. "Oh, of course he didn't."
