There is so much pain. It spirals through her body, curling and spreading and consuming all it touches. Black smoke leaves a trail behind it. It’s a stain on an otherwise blank slate that outweighs the good in the world.

Emotions.

They’re pesky things and she hasn’t understood that as fervently as she does now. Too much suffering is going on, all over the world and there’s nothing with the power to stop it. Correction. There was nothing. There is now.

Magic crackles in her fingertips and the knowledge comes to her. “I can help. I can save them all.”
