The Wishlist Meme/Rules
Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for __ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
* If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
*Surf around your friends list (or friends’ friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list.
And now here's the important part:
*If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.
* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.
* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My Wishlist 2010
1. 2011 Calendar (BtVS, Dr Horrible, Dexter or Stargate SG-1)
2. Books (Jim Butcher, Tess Gerritsen, Stephen King, Kim Wilkins, Tanya Huff, Faye Kellerman, Dean Koontz's "Velocity", Richelle Mead)
3. Fic (any of the fandoms/ships listed on my profile)
4. Absolutely anything that has to do with Mal/Inara or Cal/Gillian (wallpapers, fic, icons, banners, vids, etc)
5. Bracelet/s, silver
6. For each of you who are able to, to fulfil a wish from someone else's wish list.
7. Happiness.. been feeling not quite myself the past few wks, and I only ever feel happy with Zach or Bec..
8. For Jayne (teh muse) to return to me, sanity and all..
9. Serenity 2
10. To meet more of the Firefly cast at Supanova in April (or any other convention at Brisbane). (They've not yet put up the guest list for this year)..
ETA: I received an email the morning after I made this wishlist, containing a message that Supanova 2011 supa-guests will be announced on December 1! Firefly cast? I hope so! Not too long to wait now. :) (Also, hmm. It was the day after I sent the Supanova twitter site a message asking when the guests for next year will be announced. Heh.)

Date: 2010-11-26 12:38 am (UTC)So I can totally get you a calender, bb, though unfortunately, it's not going to have shiny new awesome pics like overseas calenders. Damn it, Australia!

Date: 2010-11-26 02:58 am (UTC)Awww, I'd love that so much. ♥♥
*tackle!squish* I must do something in return.. any interest in Christmas giftage fic (http://xfirefly9x.livejournal.com/718921.html)?

Date: 2010-11-26 03:14 am (UTC)No problem! :D
And I had a look at your fandoms/ships but though we have tons of fandoms in common, we don't seem to share a lot of the same ships, lol! *facepalm* And I wouldn't want to make you write for a ship you weren't comfortable with, so it's okay.
(unless you could maybe do a gen-fic? I do love shippiness, but more than that, I love friendship that could become more...)

Hmm okay lol. Well. Other than John/Teyla (SGA), Simon/River (Firefly) and Dean/Sam (SPN), I'm open to trying new pairings. So if you have anything in mind that you'd love in any of my fandoms, let me know. Gen fic is always good too. So.. up to you. :)

Date: 2010-11-26 04:14 am (UTC)Ooh...well, my OTP is Snape/Hermione. I know a lot of people have issues with that, which is why I was reluctant to ask you, but what the hey. I'm happy with just a friendship fic, if that's acceptable to you. (although no present/ongoing R/Hr relationship, please)
Honestly, considering some of the crap I come across, I wish there was more focus on friendship as opposed to 'let's jump into bed right away, despite how unrealistic it is, being who we are!'

Date: 2010-11-26 04:29 am (UTC)Centrelink vs Centerlink. Yeaaah. I keep typing the other way too.. though it looks kinda odd since I'm used to the other one.
Snape/Hermione. It's kinda on the line tbh, but if you're happy with a friendship fic for them I'll give it my best go. :) Would be a bit more difficult to write them as shippy and keep them in character too, I imagine.. so.. yeah. Think trying friendship fic for them first will help me get into the mind set for them more, you know? :)

Date: 2010-11-26 04:51 am (UTC)I think I'm starting to get Australianized, ohnoes! Like, I typed 'favourite' earlier today. I've used 'favorite' all my life, so I was just side-glancing myself at that little slip. O.o
Aww, that'd be great! I don't want you to angst over it too much, if the muse doesn't like it, then no worries.
And I'd take a believable friendship fic over something nauseatingly fluffy and OOC any day. (I have so much trouble with that, ugh, like- I do not see Snape ever calling anyone 'love', for instance. I know it's supposed to be a common British term, but just no! Soft cuddly Snape is a DNW!)
Would be a bit more difficult to write them as shippy and keep them in character too, I imagine
Yeah, that's the reason most of the good shippy fics tend to be really long, lol. It's one thing for characters like Elizabeth and Shep, for instance, they have the foundation of years of friendship and mutual affection, so it'd be easy enough to build a believable relationship there within the first few paragraphs.
Whereas with these two, um, apart from frustration and disdain and antagonism
and wilful pilfering of supplies and attacks, there isn't much canon interaction at all to base a relationship on.Yeahhhh. Bit of a challenge, that! :P

Date: 2010-11-26 05:00 am (UTC)Hmm lols. *squish*
Okay. Well, I will definitely give it a go. If it turns out super bad, I'll give it another go or go for a gen fic instead.
Wow.. someone actually wrote that? o__0 Hrm.
Truue lol. I can see how length would be a thing there. More time to develop and such.
Bit of a challenge indeed. :P

Date: 2010-11-26 04:23 am (UTC)Also? You are insane amounts of awesome. You really don't have to do this, but if you do, I'm going to be in your debt for ages. Which I don't think I'd mind in the slightest. XD

Date: 2010-11-26 04:38 am (UTC)or elseIt's one of my top favorite fantasy series, just epic characters and flawless plots and everything! ♥Just make sure nobody else buys it for you, lol. ^_~
(I'm curious, though, if you haven't read his stuff, except for that pdf, how's it that he's on your request list? Did a friend recommend him or something?)
Aww, you're so sweet! *preens* It's all good, 'tis the season and all that!
(I'm selfish like 99% of the time, so just enjoy the rare time I decide to be benevolent, lol!)

Date: 2010-11-26 04:47 am (UTC):P Yeah. I don't think anyone will..
(I have Dresden Files on DVD, so it spurred on the desire to read the books cuz I love reading novels that TV series were made from. Currently reading a Kathy Reichs (Bones), Jeff Lindsay (Dexter), James Patterson (Women's Murder Club) and Richard Castle's Heat Wave (Castle) so.. yeah... Bit of a pattern there. :P)
*squish* :D
(Know what you mean. :P I love buying stuff for myself. But.. Christmas.. well. I bought this really amazing book a month or so ago for dad that's based on some humourous web comic thing. Think he's gonna love it. And also some really cute stuff for my half bro and half sis.. can't wait to give it to them. :D I hope I can afford to buy stuff for everyone else I still need presents for lol. Could be bad if not.. or a lot of "IOU"s..)

Date: 2010-11-26 05:00 am (UTC)How are the Dexter books? I really like the series, so I'm not sure if I should read the books, in case things are really different...
And your list reminds me I should finish reading the Heat Wave book! I started it and then got distracted halfway through...I did like it, but I kept mentally substituting the tv characters for the books ones, lol.
Aww, that's lovely! IDK what it is about Christmas, it makes me want to buy stuff for people, lol. Although unlike you, it ends up being my f-list I splurge on... I guess 'coz my mother pays for all the stuff we get for my relatives, and I usually just get movie tickets/massages for my parents, so that's easily ticked off my list.
I hope I can afford to buy stuff for everyone else I still need presents for
Haha, wait for the post-Christmas sales? I think that's what my cousins are doing- waiting for the prices to be slashes and then buying presents for each other!

Date: 2010-11-26 05:04 am (UTC)Dexter books are amazing! Jeff Lindsay has a really unique voice.. one of my fav authors. There are differences with the book vs TV, but.. honestly? They're both amazing and they're both well worth watching/reading. :D
Hmm okay. :P Yeah, I should finish it soon too. Library one, not sure how much longer I can keep it. Plus it's on Zach's card...
Heeh.. yeah.. I really wish I could afford to send out Christmas cards. Too many RL people to buy for first though.. :P Don't know how some people on my flist can manage getting stuff for their family and people on their flist.
:)
Post-Christmas sales indeed. Think Zach and I will hold off on buying each other stuff til then. :P Might do that with my best friend also.
