+ Should I start writing a blog? - a post for writers.
+ Being Alive: Mostly About Diana - a post by Neil Gaiman on the death of Diana Wynne Jones. (She will be missed. She was one of my favourite authors in primary school; I loved Homeward Bounders.)
+ I have potentially awesome news, but til it's no longer potential I'm hesitant to mention anything more about it. Update on that later.

Hope that potential news turns into confirmed awesome news! (IS IT THE INTERNSHIP? IDEK, random guess, but that was like, so last week, so yeah)

Hee, thanks.
Internship related? Yes/no. Still working on details, so I don't want to say anything before I'm sure what's happening.

Date: 2011-03-28 09:50 am (UTC)You got a point, if the person does it right, then that'd be a great marketing process. The prob is that someone might be passionate about their project and then lose interest or inspiration along the way and then all that effort was a waste. Some people might wanna work on the project and finish it first before letting other people in. It'd be embarrassing to get a following and then get stuck!
Which was your fave book? A friend of mine's been going on and on about the Chrestomanci (sp?) book/s. I don't know if he knows, he's such a huge fan, I don't want to crush him with this news. :{

Date: 2011-03-28 12:57 pm (UTC)Yep. That would be a problem for sure, but then if you keep with a blog and all that for so long, even if you decided to go another way with it or stop you'd have followers, a lot of whom may continue to follow you should you go in another direction with what you're working on or something. *shrug*
Else, yeah.. what you said there. A writer could work on something without sharing details but still develop a blog/following ahead of time by blogging about writing in general and/or topics that they write about (eg. science or technology for a sci fi writer perhaps). Kind of like LJ.. We all have followers of sorts in our friends. If we suddenly wrote a book to get published, there'd be that pre-existing base on which to push off from.. an audience to start with. Which, I'm sure people would recommend or link if they're good enough friends, that kind of thing?
Fav book? Homeward Bounders was my fav by her. Though I do recall the Chrestomanci (sp?) books also. I read all the books by her that were in the local library back when I was in primary school. Used to record every book I read to see how many I'd get through in a yr. I should track it down and see. Many folders of old school books to get through so might hold off on tracking it down for now.
