*points to subject* Short books mostly, ones you could finish in 30 mins to an hour in a single sitting, but books nonetheless.

Why am I posted this? I just found the notepad (after much searching) that I used to record books I read in. It's awesome. I'm going to go through and put what I read up on goodreads with the actual dates I read them, and it will be amazing to see what and how much I used to read.

How have your reading habits changed over the years?

Wow, that's a lot of books.
I could probably count on one hand the number of books I read during the same period. They were probably all Harry Potter books, lol. I loved to read as a kid but after I had kids of my own I couldn't concentrate on them. Just about the only thing I read from 2002-2009 were the Harry Potter books (some I read more than once). Very, very sad.

Since I got my e-reader I read a ton...just about every night for at least an hour but it's all fanfiction, although many of them are novel length.

A decent amount, yep.
I spent most of my years around that time reading. It was very rare that I wasn't holding a book. I'd go to the library once a week and each time would get as many books as I was allowed to on my card, so.. yep. :P
Have definitely got a lot of catching up to do if I want to get back to that stage. (See my lists of evil on side panel.) Uni's greatly limited my reading for fun time.

Harry Potter books.. At least you got something awesome read in that time. :)

LOL that is awesome! An hour of reading.. *drool* I do about 10 mins a night, as I already spend time before bed writing and usually leave that last min as it is.

Lol, um. I was recently talking to a friend about this. When I was younger (as in, until I was about 13, maybe?) I went to the library every Wednesday with my grandad. I picked out five books, the maximum of what you were allowed, and by next Wed I'd finished them all. It dwindled down a lot once I was older because a) we got an Internet connection when I was 13 (this was 14 years ago) and b) I had more school work. So it became about two books a month.

I've been trying to read more again, but I can't seem to top 20 books a year nowadays. I'm trying very hard to read 50 books this year, but I'm pretty sure I'll fail *g*. Motivate meeee!

That first paragraph there? Pretty much same for me. Not sure I was 13 at the time.. can't be bothered with the math :P... and it was a non-specific day once a wk or so and with my mum and brother, but yeah. So similar it might as well be the same. :)
And then, yesss. I got into TV series at the end of high school, and also LJ around the same time, and internet, and then TAFE and uni.. and I'm just getting back into reading since Dec last yr.

*nudges to read* Have a look around at some eBook comms or whatever on LJ.. read the blurbs. Remember when you used to read and how much you loved it. And then go out and get a hold of a book and spend some time reading. It's just a matter of making time to read, really. :)

Wow, amazing!

I didn't read much when I was kid, but now I love it so much! ♥

Yeahhh. Times before internet and TV obsession. I was rarely seen without a book or notebook and pen. :)

Awesome! :D What're you reading atm?

After graduating from uni, I found that I have a very difficult time reading for pleasure. I always want to break out my highlighter and make notes about whatever I'm reading. It's not that I don't want to read for pleasure, I have a tonne of books stacked in my room waiting for me, it's just that I can't seem shake my academic reading brain.

I know what you mean. Am sort of the same way. Not so much with note taking, but uni definitely lowered my desire to read for fun for awhile there.

Well, I used to read a lot up until finishing High School. Since I'm at Uni I don't read that much anymore. At least not for fun. I'm basically reading all day at Uni. When I'm home I'm not in the mood for reading anymore. By now reading is something I'll do on vacation or on the train (the later mostly when my MP3 Player is out of battery,so not that often). I'm listening to a lot of audio books though.

That was pretty much the same for me til Dec last yr. A real shame that uni takes away some of the awesome of it.

That is a crazy amount!!! And so cool that you have a record of it.

I used to read ALL THE TIME. Like every free second I had I would read (back in junior high/high school). Heck, I would even read under my desk during class. Lol.

Now... Not so much. I read a lot during summer, and when I'm on vacation, but I think there's so much other reading I need to do for uni that I'm just not motivated to read additional stuff. Which is kind of sad...

Decent amount, I guess. :P
I looove that I have a record of it. Still doing that now, but on goodreads.

ROFL.. Under the desk?! That's not one I've heard before.
My 'reading in class' story pretty much involves me not hearing when the teacher said "reading time is over"... and about 5 mins later (I'm guessing there; it could have been longer or shorter) he asked me something along the lines of "is the book better than what I'm teaching?".. which.. I think it must have been considering I didn't notice anything til he said that. :P

Hmm'kay.. Yeah. Uni is evil for that. That is the biggest of uni's evils, in fact. *nod nod* But... then, I found the same thing happened for me.. and I also found that internet time was eating into potential reading time also.. so.. yeah. Am getting more reading done lately.. balancing things better.

I would say more than decent!

Oh yeah, I read during class all the time. Just tuck the buck on my lap under the desk and read when the class was boring. Lol. Probably the only time I ever got 'in trouble' at school. :)

Uni is very evil for that. Sometimes I can find the balance, but rarely. I'll be glad when the semester's over and I won't have homework to fit into the balance anymore. *g*

Though I probably could cut down on some internet and TV show rewatching time to make more time for reading...

That's a lot of books!!! I don't really keep track of books I've read. Mostly I tend to re-read some. Especially when I'm bored, and I feel like it, I'll take my Uni textbooks and read them. XD

My reading habits have definitely changed that's for sure. From young, I used to read heaps and then when it came to Uni, I didn't read any books apart from my Uni stuff - given the fact that most of them were plays/epic poems etc... etc... I didn't have time to read anything else. XD Yeah, so 4 years and 1 month of not reading anything but academic books/journals.

I've been making up for lost time since last year tho. XD

It really is. Makes me sad I read nowhere near as many these days. But then, I have internet now. And a boyfriend. And fandom and uni and such. So. :)

True.. Yeah uni is a big turn-off for reading. Ironic really.

:D Whatcha been reading?

I think it's more like when you feel like reading, you'll just pick up a book and read. Reading is fun but forcing yourself to read kinda defeats the purpose. Yeah, internet = fanfic. XD Lol jokes. It's kinda hard to find that balance. Guess it comes with figuring life/things out as we go along haha.

Urgh I know. Having to read all the academic journals/textbooks etc.... I somehow survived with not doing all my readings. XD

What have I been reading? Mostly James Patterson & Kathy Reichs books altho I've stopped for now (have to go borrow from the library, so maybe next week or something). My usual suspects (apart from my Uni stuff) would be Roald Dahl books, Star Wars books & Harry Potter books. Currently reading The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas and I just finished The Great Gatsby. Gonna go into some James A. Michener sometime in the year.Feel free to recommend some books, btw.

Yeah, that's true. *nods*
Net does = fic a lot of the time lols

How'd you survive without doing readings? o_0

Hehe, niiice. I've got a James Patterson and Kathy Reichs going atm too lol.

Roald Dahl.. childhood favourite. Same with HP. :D The others, haven't read though. Going well, are they?

Recs... hmm. "The Lion" by Nelson DeMille is good, though not the first in the series. So. That series.
