Summary: Rain has never put bad feelings into her before.
Notes: Written for writers30days. 8/04/11.

Rain has never put bad feelings into her before. She has always connected it with peace and calm and the renewal of life. It’s been to her a cleansing force. She used to dance in the rain when she was sad and it cheered her up.

Now though, it scares her. It’s like a darkness spreading throughout the sky, pummelling down in an almost constant thread. Digging into the earth, covering it, drowning it. Soon the whole planet will be covered and ruined, no longer able to support life. Terraforming will be reversed. Destroyed. Won’t matter anymore.

The cows and trees and birds that live in those trees will die, their homes lost, their existence covered over by water, deep, drenching. No survivors but those who run. The animals will be lost. No way for them to fly to another planet.

The world is breaking itself and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop it. She can only watch while the crew hurries to leave, and wonder at the fierceness of nature. If there is one thing she has never been able to understand completely, it is that, for nature is without predictability.

The rain pours on and she wraps her arms tightly around her middle.

BTW I saw this post and asked myelf. "Do I want to read this? Is there a spoiler?" LOL. I got so used to thinking that with anything Firefly that then I remembered. Oh! I've seen the movie. *facepalm*

Yeah. Quite apocalyptic, this one. Though I think I could've gone darker. Maybe I should go much darker and write a long fic for it for het_bigbang with Mal/Inara in it. *ponders*

Ooh longer fic from you? Sounds good, you should definitely give it a shot. And I saw you had the Kaylee/Jayne thing too, that'd be interesting if you could incorporate both pairings in it! *nods*

I keep meaning to try your longer Firefly/SPN fic but never get around to it...probably because I'm not one for reading SPN much.

But if you write this I promise not to pester you about other fic writing or posting (ie Mac/Stella, Crews/Reese) for the duration. *g*

Hrm... Setting Fire to the Nest (http://xfirefly9x.livejournal.com/753359.html) is my longest SPN/Firefly fic. Do you mean that one? Otherwise I have a few short SPN/Firefly ones.. And my main big one is SG-1/Firefly (Still Flying; which is on ff.net in full and only partly up here).

Actually contrary to popular belief you *do* require skin on your knee...it holds the bone and ligaments inside your body so that you can move .. Good good. No you wouldn't want to lose me any flisters over lack of variety. :P

Yeah I like those longer hours where I churn out a medium ficlet and then I realise that it was just 'writing'. :P
I should really try getting back into one or two of my big fics... those were definitely getting lost days and weeks at a time...

Speaking of different someone from high school who I think stole my wallet(!!!) added me on facebook. I want to call her on it, but then, at the same time.. ehh. It'd mostly be because it's killing me to know what happened to it. :P

Also.. another flister here? She was complaining about people not reviewing her stuff much.. Said that she had only gotten a few reviews on one chapter of a fic instead of the usual 10+. UGH. I mean, seriously?! My last batch of fics, I had about 6 go without any comments at all. Am I complaining? Nope. I write for fun, not reviews. I don't get people who do write for reviews. :/

(Thinking of removing her. We have little in common as is.. and I'd remove her from fb too. She's always posting farmville stuff and photos of herself. A little odd.)

I kind of get that though, for the multi-chapter posters, if they've got a following of a certain x people and then one chapter doesn't get about the average number of reviews its like 'AM I DOING SOMETHING HORRIBLY?'. But generally yes, if you always complain about not getting reviews I don't see why you're writing in the first place.

And by last batch do you mean the ones you had to back date? ;) (Not that of course if you've been cross-posting to comms that should make much of a difference, but if you're main following is on your flist then it might..)

(Lol, do whatever you feel comfortable with. Uhm, yeah sounds a little narcissistic with photos. Farmville though? Can't she turn the notifs off or something? O_o I don't think I've spammed anyone with my playing of CSI: Crime City. I've had it on in the background all the time of the last 3 or so days)

Mm yeah. That's true lol. But.. ugh. She had plenty of reviews there. I don't know why she's complaining. I'd be very happy if I got as many as she did.

Yeah lol. The back dated ones mostly.. but maybe 3 or 4 of the just River ones too. Shippy ones are getting more attention. So much more than I thought tbh. River/Jayne and Jayne/Kaylee in particular. ♥ Firefly fandom is the best.

lols.. yes. I removed her. We rarely talk anyway and it was just getting a bit.. too much. Notifs, I think so, yes. But even a lot of her status updates were "can someone send me [this] on farmville" etc, etc. Just got to be too much. The photo thing... hrm. I'd understand if they were more varied, but they're all of her in the same pose with the same background for the most part. o_0 I think she's married... haven't seen a single pic of the husband though. Odd... Anyway. I'm going to stop ranting there and hope no one else reads this. I'm feeling kinda bad ranting like this. She is a nice person and all that. Just with some quirks.

Haven't seen any of your CSI: Crime City ones at all, so must be hiding it well enough. ;)

Yep, I only had a bit of time for Firefly fic in my schedule. (Since I don't really read it at all) And I just decided to go with some quirkier pairings to read. Very good stuff. :)
