“Come on, Nate!” Sophie twirled around gracefully in the rain, her hands outstretched and reaching for the sky. She leaned her head back slightly to catch raindrops on her nose and tongue. With her eyes closed and no cares in the world, she was a picture of beauty.
Even so, Nate was reluctant to join her. “I’m not singing in the rain, Sophie.”
“Please?” She drew the word out and offered him a look that threatened to undo him then and there. “For me?”
He shook his head.
“You don’t have to sing then. Just come out and join me. It’s nice out, Nate.”
Nate glanced upward a little at the rain and smirked. He nearly didn’t notice Sophie approaching him and definitely wasn’t prepared for her to jump him. Her arms went around his neck and she pulled his head down to kiss him. She left him panting and wanting more.
And then she bounded down the three stone steps and out into the rain again. “Want more of that? You’re going to have to come and get me.”
Nate shook his head as if to clear his thoughts, dragged a hand through his hair and then taking one last moment to enjoy the dryness of his clothing, hurried into the rain.
