Fic: Hard to Get (Alec, Eliot)

Title: Hard To Get
Fandom: Leverage
Characters: Alec, Eliot
Word Count: 415
Rating: G
Summary: Alec and Eliot make a bet on whether a barista likes Alec. 8/2/09.

"Oh, that's a neg, babe! You ain't got nothin' on me!" Alec grinned and shook his head at the blonde waitress. "You thought it'd be that easy, did you now? No, no, no. It's not!"

The blonde rolled her eyes and strutted off behind the counter and through to the hidden area of the establishment. The tip of her white dress was the last thing to disappear from sight; he watched until she was gone. Satisfied, he turned to look out the glass panel in the front of the bar. “See that?” he said. “Wanted me.”

Eliot rolled his eyes and lifted his mug, drinking the remains of its contents. He slammed it down to the table again. “And you just turned her down. Idiot.”

“Hey, no! I didn’t do that! I just said I wasn’t that easy. Playin’ hard to get.”

“Ten bucks says she’s not into you anymore when she gets back out here,” Eliot replied.

Alec frowned and stared into his own empty mug.

“Please tell me you have ten bucks to spare.”

“Not doin’ it.”

“You’re afraid to lose.”

There was the distinguished sound of approaching footsteps amongst the chaos of the bar. Eliot raised an eyebrow at him as if to ask, “Well?”

“Fine. Fine. I’m in.” Alec offered his hand and they shook on it.

Both watched the curtains to the back section impatiently. A man walked out with similar enough looks that he could be the girl’s brother. He began serving up the other end of the bar at once.

“Hey!” Eliot hissed.

The man finished his current order and glanced over. “What’ll it be?”

“Girl back there. Blonde. She comin’ back out?”

“Blonde, hmm?” the man said. His expression read as if he was bored.

Eliot didn’t reply, choosing to stare the man down.

Alec had other ideas. “Girl with the white dress. You look like you could be related. See? We had a thing. And she went out back and-“

“She’s not into you, man,” Eliot interrupted. “Leave it. Bet’s off.”

The man smirked. “Oh, your bet is off all right. She left. Her shift just ended. Now, do you want something or should I go serve someone who’s actually here for a drink?”

Eliot brushed him off and then turned to Alec. “Let’s get out of here.”

“What about the bet?”

“Well, obviously it’s off for now,” Eliot said. “Next time we’re here and the blonde is…”

“To be continued. Ah.” Alec nodded. “I’m in.”

Silly boys. I love how they manage to show how tight they've all become through the show. I particularly enjoy the Sophie/Eliot bond and Eliot/Alec. There's so much there, there're so many reasons why they shouldn't fit and they do.
Though Parker and Eliot have that soft spot for kids.

And Parker/Alec... well...

Alec should be devastated the girl was hitting on him exactly when she was off and... free. *grins*
Or maybe this is headed into slash territory. With you I dunno, but my brain is always my brain.

And I'm rambling. I'm sorry. Shutting up now.
