T'will be leaving for Zach's parent's place today and will not return til about the 17th. As such, there will be limited interwebs. Might still manage to get on for a bit, but for the most part there will be a lack of computer-y activities.

Rather, I've been attacking each prompt as my muse has striked and I'll do my best to get everything done in December (and January if I run out of time). So. Might not get anything posted today as we're heading into Redcliffe to see the mother (leaving in about 40 mins so I should wrap up here quickly and finishing getting dressed/ready) and have a birthday party at about 7pm. You've got to be so careful about what you say online these days. Everyone is so on edge about the negativity that can be in fandom and the like that an innocent comment will be misinterpreted simply because everyone is so on edge. (This thought brought to you because I read a random post of a comm at which I'm not a member, and such "keep one eye open" behaviour was featured.)

I miss the good ol' days of fandom where everyone was able to respect other people's opinions and didn't go about posting things they knew the recipient would react badly to (and if offending anyone, they actually apologised rather than standing by their point and making things so much worse). LJ used to be my safe haven, where I'd go after scoffing at the mayhem and ridiculous antics you'd see around other sites. Now, not so much.

I miss when fandom was about the fun and ensuring everyone else was having fun too. I miss when LJ wasn't so selective and actually welcomed new people rather than treating them with scrutiny and keeping them at a distance til they proved themselves (which, sad to say is something I've seen - and also something that may be necessary at some level because of bots and spammers, but... still)..

It's amazing how things can change in the space of a few years. People just don't know how to communicate with each other any more. Put someone in front of a computer these days and their inhibitions and any decent social behaviours and manners disappear. People who are online these days don't seem to realise that those they are talking to are people as well.
